THE HISTORY OF THE BELLS

Bedford Town Bells were formed in 1998, and first competed in the Chiltern Ladies Football League, under the Club name of Queens Park Bells. In 1990/91 the Eastern Region Womens Football League was formed, and the Bells were amongst the first to sign up. This was when we changed out name to the current one.  The Club spent all of their time in the Premier Division, except for one season in Div 1 after being relegated in the 1992/93 season.

In 1994, Richard Linford took over the coaching of the team and he eventually took over as first team manager.  He has been a big influence on the club as a whole and over the years the Bells have consistently improved in skill, knowledge and FITNESS.

With the popularity of Ladies football on the increase the Bells formed their Reserve Team in 1996, which now play in the Eastern Region League Div 1.

In 1998/99 The Bells we invited to play in the newly formed South East Combination League.  This was their reward for finishing 2nd in the Regional League.  That season also saw us  reach the 5th round of the F.A. Cup for the first time in our History.

We have remained in this League ever since and are building up the Club, with the hope of promotion into the Nationals in the future.
